"The goddam movies. They can ruin you. I'm not kidding."

Holden is describing an event he can picture happening with Maurice, the elevator guy. He imagines an action-filled scene which was far from the reality of the situation. Then he says this quote. Its very true. Movies exaggerate almost every life experience, to the point that we are not satisfied with real life situations because they aren't as eventful as in the movies. We sometimes forget that movies are fake and life is real. We need to lower our expectations and enjoy every day. Sometimes when we watch TV we forget that these people are actors, playing parts for a couple hours, laughing because thats what it says to do in the script.
